New Improved Roadway Safety 8+ Now Ready for Download

Roadway Safety 8+ offers several upgrades and improvements that make it worthwhile to obtain a new CD or download. These are listed below. Further, the Roadway Safety Consortium has grown to include some important new members. The RSP consortium:

Spoken Languages Embedded. Roadway Safety 8+ now has spoken English, Spanish, and Portuguese embedded in the program. When the voice option is selected, each line in every module is spoken in the language of your choice. You can also right click on any line to hear it again, or to play the lines when in slide show mode.

New Navigation System. Getting around in the Roadway Safety 8+ is now easier than ever. In addition to the ability to navigate with mouse clicks, a new alternate navigation system using arrow keys, letters, and numbers has been added. For example, a user can move to new bullets by pressing the down arrow key or can move to the next or previous screens by using the right and left arrow keys. Pressing the D key now takes the user to a Demo. The B key takes the user back from the Demo. Voice can be turned on an off with the V key, and units of measure can be switched between English and Metric by pressing the U key. Pressing the N key allows the user to move to the next module.

New Instructor Order ‘Save’ Option. In the previous version, the user could rearrange the module playback order on the Instructor Set Up page. Now the user can save the custom order for future reuse. Once saved, these custom orders can also be loaded from the main program screen without going to the Instructor Set Up page.

Print Materials Option Upgraded. You can now access the print materials option from the main screen without going to the Instructor Set Up page. In addition, the new Roadway Safety 8+ print option switches seamlessly among the print materials in English, Spanish, or Portuguese just by clicking on the language button.

Finally, the Roadway Safety Consortium is now funded by the U.S. Federal Highway Administration (FHWA). The consortium membership expansion and the new FHWA funding mean that you can look forward to more important additions and improvements in the future.
