Title: QucikZone: Modeling in the Zone

Abstract: While reducing congestion and increasing mobility have always been concerns in work-zone construction, these two concerns have received increased attention as the number of road repair projects continue to increase throughout the nation. As such, The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) published the revised work zone safety and mobility rule in September 2004 which was designed to help anticipate and aggressively mitigate the congestion caused by work zones. This article discusses how the use of Quickzone can help highway officials and contractors in adhering to the guidelines of the work zone safety and mobility rule. New features of QuickZone 2.0 are included and examples of how states have successfully used the new QuickZone are also given.
