Give 'em a Brake is a work zone safety awareness coalition representing union road workers, law enforcement, road builders and transportation interests dedicated to urging motorists to slow down in work zones and watch out for workers. Public awareness efforts have included media public service announcements, news releases, radio advertising, and promotional items used statewide and for specific construction projects.
Audio PSAS: Give 'em a Brake public service announcements on the radio urging drivers to slow down. Created in a 30-second and 60-second format. Billboards are also placed at key locations.
Video PSAS: At the Office - a 30-second public service announcement. It uses an office setting to emphasize how closely vehicles drive next to workers in a work zone.
Materials: News release, summary of Michigan's tough work zone laws, and fact sheet about safe driving tips in work zones and current crash statistics.
